The humble beginnings of computer ethics can be traced back in 1940 as the MIT professor Nobert Weiner created the concept of cybernetics which deals with the information-feedback systems . Weiner published a book entitled Human Use of Human Beings ' which was said to be the first computer ethic book . In 1970 Walter Maner tried to define computer ethics . Donald Gotterbarn defined computer ethics as the as professional ethics as used by the conduct of computing professional . Computer ethics became well defined upon the co-authoring of Gotterbam in the Association of Computing Machines Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct . The following are the concerns that initiated ethical and legal questions : First is privacy which was defined as the power over personal information which is violated by users who access private s . Next is the intellectual property right that is often breached by the copy-paste ' users without proper citation . Third is the professional responsibility of the programmers which is unfaithfully depreciated as experts tend to put bias on their work , such as a virus to bring down information of one company in favor of the other . These concerns established a greater reason for defining computer ethics
In the case study presented , Lego management should first make a Lego website where hackers and all other fanatic can exchange ideas and create some forums . Now , the Lego management should do its job little by little . First they should establish good ties with these hackers and fanatics . Next is that they should make a sound deal to the hackers . For example hackers can get incentives upon making programs that could increase the sales of Mindstorms . Now when ties are built , they can now talk to these hackers regarding the legalization of the distribution of LEGO 's software . Then here comes the point , the Lego management will set limits and specifications on how it will be distributed .
