Comparing the 1950s and 1960s Cultural Comparison of the 1950s and 1960s The social and political views of the 1950s shaped the age of that particular decade and changed drastically during the 1960s

The end of World War II brought young servicemen back home , by the thousands , back to America to pick up their lives and start new beginnings , as they began to start families , bought new homes and started working at new jobs

The fashion of that period in history consisted of poodle skirts and pony

tails , as the majority of people listened to upbeat oldie tunes like , Lollipop ' by the Chordettes (Chordettes , 1955 ) as they were shaped and molded by a unique culture that was surrounded by the music and styles of the decade

The United States was marked with a huge increase in the economy for the first time in 30 years during the 1950s and witnessed a consumer society that was founded on credit and the onset of the baby boom which changed the cultural aspect as far as politics and social events were concerned . The political and social views of the 1950s were molded around the changing era where women 's rights , imperialism and civil rights of the population were closely looked at , where there was a beginning how people looked at the way women lived and thought

Along with this changing of social and political views , the 1950s offered cultural changes which began a huge tradition of starting new beginnings in an era that was coupled with the trendy and outlandish styles of that particular time

At the end of the 1950s , American had began to take on a whole new look and feel that drastically reshaped cultural changes that were completely apparent throughout the 1960s . The psychedelic music , along with the tie-died styles of that era of the 1960s was sometimes described as promoting a surreal and dreamy feeling , which closely describes the era of the 1960s
