Hamilton and Jefferson

In the present day American political environment , the differences and outright disputes between the political parties is commonplace , as if it just naturally emerged from nowhere . In reality , however , the roots of political differences and party division in America can be found in two of the founders of the nation- Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson The key political issue which divided these men , and ultimately led to each of them founding separate political parties , was the issue of Constitutional interpretation . For Hamilton , the Constitution was

to be interpreted rather strictly and narrowly , based on the way that it was constructed , thereby leading to the moniker of constructionist ' to describe Hamilton 's political leanings . For Jefferson , the Constitution was seen as a document to be more broadly interpreted (Brooks , 1993 The end result of these differences was Hamilton 's foundation of the Federalist Party and Jefferson 's foundation of the Democratic Party These basic differences are echoed in the political debates between the parties that are seen in the present day United States , but once again as was mentioned before , very few people take even a moment to consider where political discourse originally began References
