When the WW1 ended in 1918 , the young American who fought WWI became frustrated in the empty hypocrisy of the post Victorian era . It was the shinning rise of stock market and consumption that the Americans found in their new way of living . The old traditions were falling and newly rich individuals were changing the trends and mores of society in the thriving world
