Kat becomes submissive and obedient . In the Shrew there is no doubt that Katharine becomes the obedient wife that was longed after by the men . With words such as , I am ashamed that women are so [foolish] , to offer war where they should kneel for peace ' it is obvious that she has completely changed her outlook on things . Contrasted to this , in 10 Things , although Kat makes a plea that could be considered a submission to Patrick , upon further consideration , this may not be the case . Although on the surface it seems

that she is a completely different person , the words she uses in her monologue are much different than those used by Katharine in The Shrew . In Kat 's version , most of what she is doing is confessing her love for Patrick . It would take a cynical mind to view a confession of love as a submission to someone 's will . Perhaps that is all Kat was doing telling Patrick that she loves him . This need not be viewed as a weakness , only the admission of one 's feelings

Art allows the chance for people to interpret it differently . This is the case with all art , including these two examples . It is easy for one to say they view the book and the movie similar . On the other hand they can view them differently as well . There have been critics that argue Katharine and her husband only pretended that she was obedient to fool the others out of their money . And it is easy to see why people may view Kat 's admission of love as submissive , given her past history . But as people change , no one except those involved can know for sure the motivation behind their actions . These two works provide an example of the different interpretations...
