COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE LIVES OF JESUS AND MOHAMMED
COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE LIVES OF JESUS AND MOHAMMED
God has bestowed upon mankind with innumerable blessings . On
materialistic side , he has sent us to this world and has produced the
enabling environment for our proper growth , which includes food , water ,
air and other basic necessities of life . Moreover , He has blessed us
with parents who ensure that we use all these blessings in the best
possible way . Likewise , for the sake of spiritual growth , the almighty
God has revealed scriptures and sent his apostles (prophets ) in order to
ensure that mankind understands those scriptures properly . Out of all
the prophets sent in this world , Mohammad and Jesus are two major ones ,
in terms of their current followership . This paper is intended to
explore the similarities and the differences in the teachings ,
circumstances and impact of the teachings of the two great leaders of
the human history .
Comparison of the teaching :
The teachings of Mohammad too , were an extension to what Jesus taught ,
as he accepted Jesus as the Prophet of God and Gospel as the divine
scripture .
For example , Mohammad not only taught to forgive the enemies , but
practiced himself as well . On the event of the conquest of Mecca , he

desire to take revenge .
The comparison of the situations prevailing there in the time of the two

Jesus accepted to be crucified whereas Mohammad fled to Medina , when
people came to kill them , thus Jesus seems to be braver than Mohammad .
However , this difference in the biographies of the two can again be
attributed to the circumstances . There were brighter chances to
propagate the religion from Medina , as it actually happened . But in case
of Jesus , there was no such prosperous avenue .
Miracles are awarded according to circumstances . That 's why the Miracle
of Mohammad (Quran ) is different from those of Jesus .
Impact of teaching :
Michael Hart in the 100 ranked Mohammad as first , since he considers
Mohammad as more influential than Jesus .
Reasons given by Hart :
Mohammad was successful in religious as well as political realm .
He had greater contribution in the development of Islam than that of
Jesus for Christianity .
Conclusion :
One of the great constraints in the scholastic study of religion or
religious personalities is that the literature tends to be biased . Thus ,
the best approach in this regard is the neutral studies , setting aside
the personal beliefs and determining the historicity of what the author
has said by questioning those facts and opinions on logical grounds . The
literature reveals that there is...
