Vietnam War launched by the then American President Lyndon B .Jhonson was regarded as the greatest American blunder committed during 1966 . A war on Iraq is another American foreign policy catastrophe committed by George W .Bush during 2003 . Lyndon aim was to arrest of the spread of communism where as the Bush aim is to fight

terrorism and to eschew further probable terrorist attack . American lost many valuable lives during Vietnam War and this espoused a strong protest especially from student community all around U .S . An amazing 543 ,000 American troops were stationed in Vietnam during 1969

A communist government was introduced by Ho Chi Minh , the national leader of Vietnam in North Vietnam in 1950 's . It was decided to split the country at the 17th parallel . Then , the South Vietnam was ruled by Bao Dai and North Vietnam was ruled by Ho Chi Mihn . Suddenly there erupted a war as the North Vietnam invaded the South Vietnam . North Vietnam being a communist country , it was supported by the Russia and China and whereas the South Vietnam being a democratic country being supported by UK and USA

In August 1964 , North Vietnamese torpedo boats attacked the United States Navy while it was stationed in the Tonkin Gulf .The reason for the attack was stated that United States offered intelligence information to South Vietnam . This attack provoked the USA and President Lyndon ed immediate air attacks

Americans involved directly in the Vietnam War by sending their troop to South Vietnam to check the spread of communism . But they made a mistake They could not cope up with the Gorilla war practiced by the North Vietnamese . At last , they pulled out from the Vietnam in 1973 .What Americans achieved in the Vietnam War is no one still knows . It had met humiliating defeat in Vietnam . It had lost so many priceless young American lives , spent billion of dollars on war which could have diverted to productive purposes

Denial by the Saddam Hussein for inspection by the UN weapon inspectors made America to doubt that there existed mass destruction weapons in Iraq which could be used against USA . Further , CIA had given false information that Iraq was involved in the September 11 attack indirectly and al Qaeda had the blessings of Saddam Hussein . Iraq had attacked and captured Kuwait earlier and American had helped to restore it back Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are constantly worrying that their country may be attacked again if the Saddam remain in power in Iraq . One another reason why U .S doesn 't want to rub on wrong side of Saudi Arabia as it keeps more than trillion dollars as deposit in U .S . banks .
