Community Psychology - observation
Running head : OBSERVATION Observation [name] [institution] [professor] [course] Observation There are a lot of reasons for why I have chosen to observe people in the library . It is basically because people find their behaviors inside the library to be very different to their behaviors in the outside world . The library is like an alternate world to the real world outside of it . The library has a certain set of rules that is very different to the rules of the outside world . The library has also caught my interest

br as I have learned that there are many rules in the library that is unspoken in nature . It is like those rules were made conventions even without scholars and people concerned having any agreement at all . Those unspoken rules are of course different from the many agreed rules in the library like the rules posted on walls . When people are inside the library they act in certain ways very different when they are outside But more interestingly , people are even changing their behaviors even before they enter the library . People going to the library are sot of readying themselves for something that is different from the rules of the outside world
I have observed that when they are outside , they show more of who really they are whilst when they are inside the library , their usual actions are somehow restraint . It makes me wonder then what it is in the library that makes people behave the way they do . Interestingly , the library is known to abide to its golden rule : silence . Libraries typically have this intimidating aura in its architecture . Most libraries are large churchlike buildings . And of course , the participants here are mostly the members of the academe , except for the librarian and maintenance Plus , the library is a place oozing with diversity so needless to say it is considered a place with people with different behaviors
Our library is what you can call a typical contemporary library , this kind of libraries are currently gaining popularity among learning institutions . One can find the influence of the modern technological age prevalent in contemporary libraries . Contemporary libraries break the notion that libraries are only for books . Nowadays , there are computers and multimedia equipments present in libraries . Even the design of the inside of the library had taken contemporary influences . Ours even appears as having resemblances to a typical coffee shop
The library is a place steaming with academic pressure . Most of the people in the library are sporting their game faces and are ready to battle piles of books . No matter what their purposes are , people going to the library , as it seems to me , transcend suddenly to a type of person who they are not when outside of that sacred place . My assumption is that most of the students there prefer to borrow more books than what they really need . I guess they are just playing it safe in such a way that they won 't have to go back and forth...
