Telegraphy is the transportation of information through radio waves without physically transporting the message . It was the first kind of invention that lead to other wireless transfer of information like fax and emails . The telegraph brought about many changes like facilitated the growth of monopoly capitalism and imperialism it marked a watershed in communication lead to the implementation of time zones and removed the barrier of geography from communication (Carey , 1988 : 201

most significant effect of telegraphy was the restructuring of time and space , which led to removing the barrier of geography in communication . Telegraphy also influenced journalism and literary styles . Because of the limited use of words , journalist (especially war journalists ) needed to use the minimum amount of words to tell the story across countries (Carey , 1988 : 202

Before the invention of the telegraph , the speed at which information could travel was as fast as the people . Trade merchandize used to be transported very slowly through the seas or on animals . Most often the prices use to vary from market to market , because the traders didn 't have much information in long distances . Long distance trade also increase the costs associated with distribution . As a result , most traders refrained from long distance trade and markets were geographically limited in size .
