Communication in Nonprofit organization

Communication in Nonprofit organization

Under communication first of all we understand writing and speaking . It is not a secret that success of any person or firm , any company or even country depends greatly on the way the communication is done , it is the important element of any successful organization . In the same way nonprofit organizations are well aware that good communication skills help them strengthen their organizations , have a strong impact on fund raising , and improve marketing efforts . Good communication can also help lower costs , increase contributions , improve board relations , and

increase community support

When nonprofits just claim that nobody knows who they are or what they do , the most realistic reason for that is that they simply do not tell anyone who they actually are and what they actually do . Although they argue that they use plenty of marketing tools (for example : brochures quarterly journals , PR with local media etc . They spend huge amounts of money on that but these tools are often quite ineffective for getting the right people to know the organization and what it does

Gottlieb (2002 ) claims that it is critical to know precisely what it is your organization is trying to accomplish - its goals - and then determine in what ways communications can further those goals

It is necessary that the marketing tools that a nonprofit uses are those that do the following for the organization 's communications efforts differentiate the organization and show the target audience its stuff

For prospective supporters , the approach of an organization should differentiate this opportunity to help from others they encounter According to Gottlieb (2002 ) If you 've never considered the question Why should I help your organization instead of the XYZ Group ' then you haven 't been thinking about differentiating your organization in the minds of prospective supporters . When marketing to your prospective clients , you are looking to differentiate the service you provide from others they may receive , or from the option of receiving no service at all ' That why the goal must be making one 's option appear to be the best (and even maybe only ) choice

After that the organization must show to the prospective supporters and clients how wonderful this organization is . And here Gottlieb (2002 underlines that one must not tell ' them how terrific you are , but show ' them . The organization can not just tell that it is great...
