During October 16 , 1923 , The Walt Disney Company was founded by brothers Roy and Walt Disney . Today , it has become one of the biggest and most recognizable media corporations in the entire planet . The whole company has been divided into four primary business sections : Studio Entertainment , Consumer Products , Parks and Resorts , and Media Networks All of these segments of the corporation co-exists hand in hand in to bring immense exposure and development that can be felt around the world

They started out with The Walt Disney Studios which stands out as Disney 's foundation . It was named Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio , but with Roy 's suggestion , they changed it to the Walt Disney Studios . Along with this foundation arose the company 's signature cartoon character , Mickey Mouse .
