No man is an island . Human beings are social creatures . One of the astounding human characters is the instinct to render service to others It is a simple and yet a complex virtue a person can possess . It may be as effortless as carrying an old lady 's bag of grocery and can be as intricate as

offering one 's life for other 's welfare

Genuine service to others does not expect anything in return . Otherwise it would mean service to one 's self or doing something for personal advantage . However , if it is authentically done out of love , then it is inevitable to receive a deserved act of appreciation . Love begets love so to speak . Nevertheless , service to others means exerting an effort towards the benefit of a person or persons other than your self

Noble acts of service for others can be demanding or stressful but it is an excellent opportunity to practice something that is valuable and significant to society . Although it may mean sacrificing one 's self , the fact that you are doing something not just to achieve personal gratification , create true happiness and satisfaction . It makes one feel good about himself because he or she is able to perform one of his primary duties as a human being . The reason why some commit suicide is because they don 't feel important and needed by society . They feel that their existence is not creditable and that their absence will never be noticed

But if one realizes that his existence is significant because he is able to render service towards others , it establishes a sufficient motivation to go through the challenges in life . Rendering service to others gives the chance of out of the shallowness of self-love . It is amazing to realize that through selfless act in showing concern for other 's welfare , in reality , we are loving our very selves , boosting our own morale and making a difference...
