INTRODUCTION : THE COLD WAR

Throughout World War II and its immediate aftermath , the policy of the United States has always been based on the principle that the peace and security of the postwar world should be guaranteed by the projected international organization , which would settle disputes among the Nations , known to this day as the United Nations (U .N . The main purpose of the said organization is to extinguish the need to resort to traditional power politics in resolving international issues .
