Classroom Management Plan

This discusses my classroom management beliefs and related issues in my Spanish I class for middle school

Classroom Management Beliefs

My beliefs in classroom management all revolve around one theme - to foster a conducive atmosphere for the student to learn more effectively and efficiently . These beliefs and my philosophy of education had been and still are being heavily influences by authorities in classroom management . In this part of the , I discuss the specific influences from these authorities

First , Lee and Marlene Canter have formulated and continuously refined a system of

discipline called Assertive Discipline which guides teachers on how to interact with students in a calm helpful , and consistent manner . Assertive discipline aims to promote so that students may learn and teachers may teach effectively inside the classroom . It aims to do this by espousing that both the teachers and students have rights inside the classroom , and the way a teacher respond to the rights of the students categorizes him or her into the three types of teachers , as defined by Lee and Marlene Canter . The three types are hostile nonassertive , and assertive teachers . In all of the situations that were listed by the Canters , the reactive behavior of the teacher should really depend on the behavior of the student - a student 's behavior is linked to how well the student learns

Second my educational philosophy had been impacted by the research findings of Jacob Kounin on the relationship between teaching behaviors and the resultant behaviors of students . These findings can be summarized into two themes : 1 ) good classroom behavior depends on the effectiveness of the teacher 's lesson management , and 2 ) teacher behaviors impact on the degree of student 's involvement . It has always been my practice specifically in my Spanish I class , to know what is going on in all parts of the classroom at all times . This helps me gauge the level of attentiveness of the students , and accordingly chance my teaching strategy right there and then to foster an efficient learning experience

Carlette Jackson Hardin , on the other hand , impacted my classroom management philosophy her encouragement to teachers to draw on the findings of researches done on human behavior . The classroom is a microcosm of society in general - this means that in a way its members behave like society does . As such , the behavioral techniques and modification espoused by researchers including Pavlov , Thorndike Watson , and Skinner can be applied in classroom management

Furthermore , Fritz Redl and William Wattenburg , who are the first to describe social and psychological forces that affect classroom behavior set out to aid teachers in understanding and dealing with group behavior and dynamics inside the classroom . They did this by highlighting how different individual behavior is from group behavior . Since students interact with one another during and inside the classroom , they actively adopt their individual behaviors to fit the overall behavior of the class

I learned from Fredric Jones that prevention is the best medicine also works for in classroom...
