Christian Doctrine

While Christianity is composed of numerous denominations differing on many subjects and also on the definition of what is an essential doctrine , a number of tenets surface in virtually every discussion of what constitutes the Christian doctrine . Thus , the first essential doctrine is that you must believe in God as He is in Himself (Koukl 1995 . That means that one can only consider oneself a Christian if one believes

in the Christian God as represented in the Scripture , and have no other gods

Christianity proceeds from the idea that all men are sinful since birth because of the Original Sin committed by Adam and Eve . Romans 6 :23 states "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God " It is wrong to believe that one is innocent - humans are all sinful and all in need of forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ , the main spiritual goal on earth towards each should be advancing . That is why the human assignment on earth is to find God and to receive personal salvation . This salvation can only come through repentance that has to be made on a daily basis , as every day man is prone to commit numerous sins that can only be recouped through repentance to God and faith Faith implies the belief in five tenets found in any religion that is identified with Christianity and recognized as Christian by other churches : the Trinity , the deity and humanity of Christ , the bodily resurrection , salvation by grace through faith (Koukl 1995 . These five points , perhaps with some additions , represent the basic Christian doctrine that shapes the vision of the world maintained by Christians

The doctrine of the Original Sin is important for understanding the nature of human relationship with God , and the need for a human being to reunite with God . Adam and Eve broke their tie to God that existed when they lived in Paradise and followed His will . By eating the forbidden fruit , they incurred God 's wrath and his punishment becoming mortal and being separated from him . This episode in human history is labelled as the Fall that affected the entire creation , since the Original Sin is transferred to Adam and Eve 's children and makes it necessary for humans to fight evil in themselves since birth . This makes it necessary for people to find salvation through relationship with Jesus Christ . The Christian Doctrine says that believers should be advancing towards strong belief in Jesus Christ , allowing Him to have a greater place in their lives , as only those who believe in him will be saved . The idea of reconciliation that is so prominent in Christianity is not nearly so strongly emphasized in Islam that does not accept the idea of the Original Sin
