According to Christians , life after death is largely determined by how one leads their life on earth . For those who lead a sinful life by disobeying God , the Creator of humanity , punishment by fire in hell awaits them . The promises the Christian religion gives to its adherents has played a very important role in the rapid expansion of the religion The native religions such as the American native religions , Judaism as well as the Chinese traditional religions fail to over such attractive promises

For those who are faithful to the teachings of Christianity on earth eternal life is the reward after the final judgment in which God will judge all mankind according to their actions while alive . Therefore Christian religion core teachings are belief in a supernatural , and the final judgment day which will lead to either eternity or to eternal punishment in hell
