My personal motivations are basic and universal as it is with all mothers . My primary motivation is my two amazing children , Jessica 13 and Justin 11

years old , I became a single mother . Those were very difficult times . I had no one to depend on but myself . I was functioning on auto-pilot , sourcing all of my strength from this little baby whose life solely depended on mine

In spite of the fact that I had to take care of two children with barely time for myself , I was still able to earn my GED . Right now , I am a set to earn a business degree . Not bad for a single mother of two and a high school drop out . All of these things I was able to accomplish because my children inspired me to do so

I guess I was born to be a survivor . After having overcome the difficulties of being a single mother , I was just very recently diagnosed with cancer . At thirty years old , I am battling a life threatening illness , working full time , going to school , and taking care of my children

Right now , my goals are still the same . My cancer has not taken away my dreams , nor will I allow it to . My professional goal is to finish my college degree and keep up my high grades . After which , I plan to eventually earn my Master 's in the same industry as well . I intend to find a job where I will be able to apply my training and education and then build a lifelong , meaningful career in business

For my personal dream , I do hope to get married someday . Through all of my life experiences , I have never lost my faith in marriage . I believe that I will someday soon meet the man whom God has intended to stand by me through all of my life and me by his

My illness is not an excuse to give up on my dreams for myself and for my children . Instead , I am using this as an impetus to accomplish all goals as soon as possible . My focus and motivation is clearer and sharper now after my cancer diagnosis . With faith , strong will , and prayer , I have been able to get through this difficult time

I know that there will always be setbacks and roadblocks , but at the end of the day , faith and will always overcome . As long as I keep focus and keep counting my blessings , I will be able to achieve my goals and give my children a better life than what I had for myself...
