Struggling to survive , more and more children from these families have taken to the streets to fend for themselves by offering the only thing they have : their bodies . This will discuss the extent of the problem of child prostitution and trafficking for sexual needs in the world as well as the reasons why despite the many laws and legislations passed by government officials , this social problem is only worsening . It would also provide information on the role of First World countries have contributed to the growing problem of child prostitution and the measures that have been taken and could be taken to minimize , if not eradicate the problem of child prostitution

Tourism is one of the most lucrative industries worldwide . This industry has benefited various countries , particularly those that are considered as Third World or developing countries so much so that many of these countries rely on their respective tourism industry to solve a developing country 's financial problems such as its growing indebtedness from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF . Along with the proliferation of the tourism industry came tourists from industrialized nations who were more than willing to pay for sex with either a male or female in their destination , seeing this as an integral part of their travel experience . Sex tourism refers to an organized tour whose primary purpose is the commercial-sexual relationship with an individual from the country that he or she is visiting . There are three major categories of sexual exploitations that occur within sex tourism . These are prostitution pornography and trafficking for sexual purpose . Recently , the trend of sex tourism is to provide sex tourists a wider array of children as opposed to older and more mature women . In fact , the commercial sexual exploitation of minors by international tourists today is considered as a human tragedy occurring in a grand scale with virtually no consequences for those who practice this (Andrews 2004
