Content and Summary
Downtown Tennessee has become the home base of the Botens . Even though the family appeared to be in a normal state at the beginning of the story , it could be noted that they were separated from the community that they were living n . The different issues about them and their life-dealings have naturally increased the doubts of their neighbors about the situations going on within the family members of the Botens
For four decades of secrecy , the inner hidden events in the family had been a source of queries around the neighborhood of Downtown Tennessee After the incident of the birth of Ophelia 's son , Hamlet , the burst out of the major secrets of the family became a major talk around Downtown Tennessee
The incest between Ophelia 's parents began everything . The union between her mother Grace and her father who was also her homosexual uncle has placed Ophelia in a shameful situation . Little did she know that it would be of her same fate to end up having a son with her violent brother Lay or Laertes . Later on , Ophelia 's brother , who has also been caught to have an affair with Sukie , Walter 's voodoo witch wife , has been sent out to Detroit where he later on becomes a heroin dealer , which lead to his destruction as an individual
As the destructions of the members of the Boten family came into light the death of Hamlet began to worsen the situation being caught in a fire which was not assured as to who was actually responsible for it caused further commotion of the family .
