CheckPoint: Population Size

Checkpoint : Population Size

Explain the four factors that produce changes in population size . Which factors are affecting the population size in the video

The population in terms of analysis is often viewed based from specific specie in specific region or land wherein the collective number of its living inhabitants is quantitatively evaluated . In studying population size , there are four factors significantly influence the general population size and its quantitative behavior . The first factor is the birth and death rate in each population manifesting as the primary determinant of population size changes

. Birth normally increases the population through the propagation of new life and offspring while the death decreases it . The ratio between these two factors determine the change in the population size wherein greater birth than death means growth while greater death than birth means size contraction . The second factor is the distribution of population based on land factor namely immigration and emigration wherein the first promote increase in size while the latter reduces one . The third factor is the environmental resistance and tolerance wherein the characteristic and condition of the environment affect the potential population size in its area . This factor relates to the tolerance ability of the population to withstand and propagate in certain environmental condition . The fourth is the carrying capacity of the environment to support and sustain the growing population in its midst . Based on this factor , there are certain limitations to the population size derived from its effect on the environment it is striving such as massive increase means inadequacy in food while the small population has an abundance supply for its growth In general , these four factors determine the behavioral size of the population inducing increase or decrease in its number

What do you predict will happen to the nutria population after all the land is depleted of the nutrias ' food resource

In the view of population size and behavior , studying the coypu or nutria relates the condition influence of the environmental condition to the population size and behavior . Indeed , the sustaining ability and environmental condition become significant factors to the population whether inducing growth or decrease in its size . In the concern of nutria 's population , the food resource becomes a significant factor in its size wherein its rapid growth results to a potential scarcity in nutria 's food resource . In its aspect , it is expected that nutria will experience population crash because of this problem however , it is also likely that they will adapt with the situation and resort to another food supply...
