Communication has a very vital role in our lives . Without it , we cannot understand one another . Just to imagine life without communication makes this world so dull . interpersonal written communication

In to have an effective written communication , must bear in mind several factors in communicating . These factors are the purpose of the writer why he or she write , the identity of the audience members which includes their probable reactions , amount of information they already have , obstacles that must be overcome and the expectations that should be fulfilled , appropriate tone and relevant content

I was once in a situation wherein I was still unsure of what to do after reading the assignment details in my course syllabus . And so I wrote a letter to my classmate , asking him what we were going to do with the assignment . I used casual and informal language I usually used whenever we are talking face-to-face because he would find me weird if I would use the conventional way of formal writing . I also wrote to my instructor and asked him the same thing but I used words that are suited for formal conventions of writing because this is the way how my instructor expected me to do . He is not my friend and he would definitely expect me to write the way a student writes to his or her instructor

As I have watched the story of an Axia student , namely Coach Anthony who offended a classmate by not using the writing principle of inclusive language during discussion in his class forum , I was a bit confused why his classmate got offended . But I have found out that in writing , it is very important to use inclusive language to avoid unintentional offense Through my research , I can suggest at least three pointers on how Coach Anthony can avoid that same mistake again . The first pointer is that use terms that include either sexes . Second , de-gender . The term chairman is a good example of it . De-gender chairman to chair but do not re-gender it into chairwoman . And last but not the least , do not create stereotype based on unavoidable human characteristics
