Interpersonal communication is one form of interaction which involves two or more connected participants who are interdependent with one another which can either take place face-to-face or through other means such as the Internet . It involves a source or speaker and a receiver or listener . Other elements include the message itself , channels , context noise , ethics , competence , and encoding and decoding the message Interpersonal communication is guided by principles or certain truths which is helpful in understanding it . To further explain what interpersonal communication is , its axioms are explained through situational examples

taken from an episode of the sitcom , Desperate Housewives
The chosen episode is entitled The Ladies Who Lunch , which is from season 1 , episode 16 . The episode mainly centers on different scandals that the housewives are involved in , which ranges from a subtle scandal to a big bang . Maisy Gibbons has been arrested for solicitation and her little black book has been publicly exposed which includes her clients This bothers Bree and Rex for the reason that Rex is among Maisy 's clients . Meanwhile , Lynette deals with an outbreak of head lice and all fingers point to her twins , Porter and Preston , to be the source of it all . Gabrielle and Carlos deals with a plumbing problem with no money to fix it while Susan and Edie breaks into Paul Young 's house to look for evidence for they suspect him to be involved in Mrs . Huber 's murder
