indeed create wonders to one 's life . Imagine the numerous advantages of communicating correctly and effectively plus more when you are word smart or that person having linguistic intelligence
Word Smart or Linguistic Intelligence is the intelligence in the use of language and communication , either in the form of oral or written works Persons who are blessed with linguistic intelligence are those that can communicate their thoughts and ideas in an effective , clear and refined manner . These persons can convey their thoughts and ideas articulately to the people around him or her . They are the one who are considered the best in telling stories , debating and in public speaking . The author Armstrong tells us that each and every one of us has an innate linguistic intelligence . The only question involved here is its development . Our ancestors have their way of expressing their thoughts through colorful and vivid works . Writing poetry and fables , engaging in debates and story telling activities are some of the ways in which famous people in the history of English Literature are able to express and develop their being word smart . However , the birth of modern technology changed this all . While humanity is , up to the present reaping numerous advantages in the invention of new gadgets and tools its disadvantages are not even considered nor addressed . The development of one 's linguistic intelligence is , by choice , placed at one side . Reliance to the television set and radios as the main source of information is becoming a norm . Thus , because of this continuing trend in our society , the number of illiterate individuals is on the rise . Moreover , because of this norm , the number of those who choose not to read or those who are considered alliterates are on its peak The author enumerates how these present generations create ways on how to teach student of the modern times to read through speed reading but this method , as the author believes , is not effective in developing linguistic intelligence . He believes that speed reading is more of inspectional reading whereby the reader develops skill in systematic skimming of books to determine the essential message it conveys (37-38 As oppose to ludic reading , speed reading is not an effective way of awakening the innate word smart in a person . The author suggests simpler , less complex and enjoyable ways that may be used in developing this kind of intelligence like playing word tic-tac-toe , word ladder and other word games or even just attending book...
