Listening to Interpersonal Communication

In a Catholic Church service , the Sunday mass in particular , the Homily is the part in which I am least attentive . Most priests rattle off the Gospel like a cassette rec that switches off when done . I am embarrassed to admit that this is the part when my mind

would wander off . I go over in my mind a list of mundane things from items to purchase , errands to do , the fun we had at the games , and the elation I had over my promotion , anything and everything but the sermon of the priest

Last Sunday was different . Fr . Darwin was exceptionally good and clear . He spoke about the importance of being present , entirely , in the mass . By entirely he meant physically , mentally and spiritually . He understands that people come differently prepared for mass . Receiving communion for others is the end all and be all of attending mass , while for others it is hearing the Word of God . Still for some , going to church on Sunday is having sufficiently complied with one 's Sunday obligations . Silently , I pleaded guilty to all of the above , believing each one to be true at some point in my life
