Mission : Teaching concepts of change management to employees of all levels

Objectives

Improving employees understanding of change importance in the organization in the rapidly changing environment

eliminating employee 's resistance to change in organizations

providing employees ' cooperation in the situation of change

Participants : employees of all levels (minimum 13 during every game Every employee chooses what role he wants to play : general manager , head of the department (we 'll be focusing on 3 departments in the company- IT department , finance department , marketing department

) or employees in the department (minimum 3 employees in every department

Rules and instructions : Imagine yourself working for a company selling high-involvement products , such as luxury cars , targeting millionaires and billionaires as the customers . Your company occupies a large share of market . There are a few competitors but they do not influence your company 's customers . Imagine your company being involved in the situation when a major competitor suddenly appears in market . He has some extraordinary product to offer- like a luxury car combined with a helicopter or close to that (the product should vary every time a new game starts and be defined by the trainer . The new product becomes popular in the market in a few days , and your company sees that they are losing customers one by one . They are willing to pay double price and sometimes even 5 times the price to obtain the product . Now , the main task of the employees is to unite their efforts and suggest new policy for beating the competitor . For every good suggestion an employee makes he gets points . The main tasks are going to be

defining advantages and disadvantages of the new product offered in the market (2 points per one

suggesting possible substitutes of the product which the company could produce (2 points per one

suggesting a slogan for the new product offered (10 points per one

discussing technical features of the new product (5 points per one

defining marketing strategy of new product promotion (5 points per one

defining the new organizational structure of company which will enable to produce the new product in the minimum period of time (5 points per one

The trainer also looks at the watch in to see in what time the members will come to the joint solution . After the game all the points are counted and employees who did the best get recognition

Lessons learned from the game : The game enables employees understand that in some situations change in the organizations is inevitable , and they have to make decisions in the shortest time . It also teaches employees of different levels to participate in the strategic decisions of the company and makes them feel they are an important part of the team . The game can be improved by making 2 teams in the very beginning (of the competitor and of the present company ) who will have to make decisions according to every step in change management of the other team ...
