There is a close link between literature and censorship . Superstructures like the government , the media and the educational and religious institutions , as well as dominant interest groups have constantly attempted to manage and restraint the open and free flow of ideas and stop the influence of those that were potentially damaging to their welfare and benefit . One of the effective means to limit the free circulation of ideas and to allow only those that favor the superstructures is the term censorship

In school , the mechanism to restrict students

' rights to speak their mind and gain knowledge is given to school administrators . In most educational institutions , school authorities exercise the function of a semi-government censor body to repress the ideas of campus journalists for the sake of protecting the `good image ' of their academic institution . A lot of campus s are barred from publishing news articles and opinions that are perceived to be damaging to the name and reputation of the school

Unfortunately , censorship is more rampant in religious schools , where priests and nuns try to scrutinize every article that will be published by campus journalists . This `religious ' censorship even extends to simple school projects and assignments , as every student are required to comply with the religious teachings and beliefs of the school

If there are books that are forbidden in most religious schools , there are also ideas that must not be propagated . Anyone who attempts to violate this school rule awaits severe punishment . In many private schools...
