It is impossible to disagree with the fact that modern children and teenagers are constantly exposed to excessive amounts of violence aggression and brutality in our mass media . The majority of super heroes portrayed in contemporary cinema movies demonstrates aggressive behavior , hostility , cruelty , and earns their

fame for being good with guns . Computer games , which are so popular among teenagers , are mostly based on endless shooting and destroying virtual enemies . The motifs of gothic and doom are becoming more and more popular in modern music industry . Finally , there is a great amount of various ads and commercials in our printed mass media , which promote nudity and sexual abuse

Unfortunately , within the last decades , presence of violence and aggression in our entertainment media has been firmly increasing , and now it started playing a major role . There are several reasons for this phenomenon , which include changes in personal values of people underestimation of the importance of traditional morality , stereotypes and trends , as well as growing popularity of cruelty and suffering as an effective entertainment tool . However , many social activists try to pay public attention on the fact that those are modern children and youth who are the most affected by this negative influence of mass media

The most dangerous effect of the excessive amount of violence and aggression in mass media leads to children 's misperception of the real world . Many young people are certain that abundance of aggression brutality and abuse is under permanent influence of endless violence and cruelty coming on them from entertainment media , young children and teenagers frequently fail to understand that the realities of their life do not always correspond to the way they are presented in mass media

Another negative effect is a tendency among modern children to imitate brutal and aggressive behaviors of the models presented in our mass media . Many studies and social researches proved that increasing amounts of media violence always cause increased amounts of aggression and brutal behavior in real life , resulting in high crime rates and lack of safety on the streets . Massacre in Virginia Tech University and other shootings involving teenagers are the most obvious evidences of this effect . Exposure to medial violence and aggression encourages teenagers and youth to get involved in gang activities , stealing , bullying , acts of racial discrimination , harassment , and so on

Negative effects of violence in mass media must be considered especially threatening and destructive for young children . Their vulnerable and sensible psychology can hardly resist all those harmful influences of media violence . As a result , teenagers and young children frequently develop various psychological problems and diss , depression and aggressive responses , start suffering from the attacks of fears or anxiety , and so on . Certainly , such conditions seriously affect normal social and personal development...
