The Effects of Divorce

Divorce , although commonplace in today 's society , still affects families immensely and in many ways . More often than not , women end up raising their children alone . While there are exceptions to this , the norm is that the women are awarded the children and forced to fend for themselves and the children , often being at the mercy of the court system and deadbeat ex husbands . Divorce can affect these newly single parent families financially , emotionally

Households left with one parent to be the sole financial provider often struggle to make ends meet after a divorce . Even with court ed child support or spousal support , a divorce often disrupts regular work which could delay payments . Some estranged spouses lose their jobs due to divorce , leaving the household with the children in even more of a difficult position financially . While some assistance is usually available , it is not enough and the newly single parent is forced to make decisions that will affect the lifestyle of the entire family including finding new or more employment and making cuts in the already strained budget . Many single parent homes end up losing that parent to the work force , as the custodial parent ends up working several jobs just to pay the rent . A family will suffer significant losses due to a divorce

Divorce affects everyone involved emotionally . The initial reason for the divorce is often more than one can take . The hurt and shock of a separation is often enough to send one parent into depression . The children suffer as well . Seeing their parents depressed or hurt is monumental for some children , and they may begin to form feelings of hatred or anger for the other parent , or feelings of embarrassment toward the parent facing the hard time . Other family members suffer as well . Grandparents may suffer anxiety and the loss of time they will get to see their grandchildren and at the loss of a child that who had married into their family . Friends of the family are often affected as well and may feel torn between which person to show allegiance to

In addition to suffering financially and emotionally , divorce can even affect people physically . Many times , depression will cause someone to not eat healthy , and they will lose a great amount of weight . Others turn this into something positive and begin to make changes in their bodies for the best . They will work out at the gym , start eating better , and will eventually feel much better about themselves and their lives . However , some victims of divorce will be so depressed that they do nothing but lie around and whither away
