Global warming is threatening the lives of many people in the world There are many changes that have occurred as a result of the increase in the average global temperatures . The current food prices can be directly or indirectly attribute to this change in climatic conditions of many parts of the world . The rise in oil prices is directly related to the global changes in the temperature . This phenomenon has had serious implications in the lives of many and if not

checked will impact negatively on all aspects of life

My fellow citizens I believe that all of us have contributed to this sad state of affairs and only through our concerted efforts can we make the situation better . Global warming has lead ton the increased global temperatures . In some areas of our country temperatures have risen to levels where the lives of some of our fellow men are threatened . Do you know that we could have avoided some of the hurricanes that have killed so many people in the recent past ? If we did the right thing those brothers and sisters who died as a result of hurricane Katrina and many others would be alive if we managed our environment well

The cause of global warming is the increased emission of the green houses gases which we produce everyday as we try to make our lives comfortable but in the real sense we only make it miserable . Some people will argue that we can not do without some of the luxuries in our lives but have you ever imagined what will happen if the current trend is not checked . The temperature will have risen to an imaginable level and at the same time we will experiences very harsh climatic conditions such that the human race and the other animals may become extinct (Wirth , T 35 1989

Global warming has and will continue to cause the level if the sea to rise . It is estimated that by the year 2100 we will loose an approximately twenty five kilometers of our beaches and coastline . What does this mean ? Some of those people who live near the coasts will have to look for alternative settlements . The booming tourism sector will be adversely affected since most of the beaches will be no more and some of the best tourist resorts will be submerged by the rising waters courtesy of global warming

There are other effects that we are going to experience as a result of global warming , the food prices will continue to rise since the production will go down . Many parts of the world will continue to experience famine due to the reduced food production . This will worsen the humanitarian crisis that we are experiencing at the moment . We will experience more floods and drought making this world a miserable place to live in . Heat waves and tornados will be more common especially in our beloved region . Some animals will become extinct and many other...
