Case Study
Case Study : Analysis and Resolution Tables of Contents Abstract A Perspective of the Problem Analysis Historical Cases Resolution of Conflict Summary Conclusion References Abstract A case study involving historical cases of religion in education and the possible conflict resolution an educator may apply in preventing a law case against an educational institution . The case study centers round a popular science teacher who is dismissed on the grounds of hosting a bible study group , and the subsequent disapproval of parents who are willing to take legal

action against the school . Through the use of prior cases and analysis , a resolution is suggested to prevent legal action , as well as provide a `happy medium ' within the boundaries of the law .A Perspective of the Problem
The resignation of a popular science teacher has caused considerable uproar from the parent body that has seen their children excel in a subject that has relatively complex concepts . The cause for the teacher 's resignation is due to a bible study group organized and led by the teacher on school grounds , during school hours . This is further reinforced by the staunch views held by the teacher that his religious convictions play a significant part in his abilities to teach science This particular case study is not unique , and courts have handled many cases regarding religion in public schools . In 1998 , Secretary of Education Richard W . Riley made comment that , Public schools can neither foster religion nor preclude it . Our public schools must treat religion with fairness and respect and vigorously protect religious expression as well as the freedom of conscience of all other students In so doing our public schools reaffirm the First Amendment and enrich the lives of their students ' Arguably , the key focus here should be on the students and their education , so a resolution should be one that is met on equal ground where all parties involved benefit
America is a diverse country where it is a Constitutional right to enjoy the graces of freedom of speech , and religion . Whilst it has been shown that religion in public schools goes against these Constitutional rights , it can also be said , that the right to religious study should also be protected . Any court , through the use of prior cases , would conclusively side with the education board , but this only provides a one-sided resolution . By applying simple conflict resolution management an educator can keep within the boundaries of the law , offer ways to come to an amicable solution and continue to provide an education Analysis

All these issues intertwine with each other however , fundamentally their common factor is the Constitution . This adheres to the teacher and the students attending his bible study group , as...
