Case Study Analysis
- Case study Recruitment of employees The process of recruiting staff should be well arranged Recruitment is a process of hiring new employees and it should be well arranged failure to do this properly will result into problems . The company will either hire unnecessarily or it might hire those not qualified for the job , or hire over-qualified people for a particular job . The act of recruitment is time and money consuming There are policies that govern this exercise although it differs a little from one company to another . The whole process will

take more than a day in terms of preparation , there is the vacancy announcement then applications are sort out , contacting those who meet the requirements , then the interview day comes- mostly the same questions are asked to all the interviewees of the same job s . After this is done then panel is left to decide who to hire , interviewees leave their contacts and whoever passes the interview as per the rules of that particular interview is contacted and given a date by which he /she should report to work . The first days a person is normally is given orientation of the company so to get familiar with other staff and the nature of the work
Key problems
Carl Robins in this study case seems to have so many problems , why would he not involve other staff who are related to this activity ? Why did he say to Monica that every thing was going to be arranged in time ? How could he wait until after end of May to start preparing for this day Was he going to interview them alone ? Was it really necessary to recruit 15 people at ago ? Why couldn 't he known that there were not orientation beforehand ? Does it mean that no one keeps track of inventories Did the company lack delegation of duties since I see him doing everything
Alternative
The fact that the problem is already at hand , I think it would work for him to try and get another room , or call the interviewees and change the date of the interview . Perhaps he should talk to the others , Monica and Joe and see if they had more experience than him in this field . He might want to take a course in Human Resources , or the company might have the need of building inter-departmental relationships . Although most of the above will be time consuming and others might be money consuming (the Human Resources course , the use of another room would be a solution but for only this problem and it is also a short time solution
I propose that inter-departmental relationship is urgently needed in this company . In the `Manager 's toolkit 5 ' it states that `if we don 't hang together , we all hang separately
Recommendation
I recommend that all the heads of departments for ABC inc . should meet and discuss the best ways of effectively applying inter-departmental relationships . This will fully avoid such mix-ups in the future...
