Siemens Power Corporation (SPC ) is a market leader in the manufacture and sale of power generating equipments , especially those used in bio fuel and nuclear facilities . In late 1990s , when the case study analyzed herein was done , SPC had the third largest market share in the United States , after General Electric and Westinghouse , in first and second positions respectively . SPC was facing competitive challenges given that its cost of production and thus product prices were higher compared to competition . The

management thus embarked on looking for ways and means of controlling costs in various operations . The Computer Information was incidentally among the departments earmarked for reform . Specific target was the company 's aging systems that desperately needed overhaul . A new Enterprise System was to be put in place , since it would have a positive impact on other departments ' efficiency . Rolling out of the new system was , however , faced with various challenges . For instance , the project manager complained of not getting enough support from senior management there were disagreements on whether implementation was to be done in a big-bang model or through several phases finally , project management team could hardly agree on the appropriate time to train employees and other stakeholders

Some of the systems can be tweaked to meet organizational needs , while others demand that organizations change processes so they could be covered under the new platforms . Custom-made Enterprise Systems are the ones developed to meet for specific organizations and can be adjusted when such need arises Another section addresses matters pertaining to ES implementation methodologies , including factors that need to be considered .
