Career Inhibiting Behaviors Avoiding Pitfalls in Professional Settings Debra Benton , author of How to Think like a CEO , describes several behaviors that could stunt career growth as a professional leader simply due to behaviors that exhibit poor personality traits and behaviors Learning the career inhibiting behaviors ' and avoiding them are key to understanding unconscious and socialized actions that a person may not be aware of exhibiting . Extensive self-reflection and research on these areas have helped me to outline my professional goals

and will allow me to recall these destructive behaviors and avoid them , so I can be the best leader I can be in my career

Benton agrees that talking too quickly is a career blunder that can leave upwardly mobile professionals on a downward spiral . Many professionals are perfectionists and are very critical of individual mistakes . Others must shatter this myth for a manager 's positive mental health

Although , a leader must exhibit string interpersonal skills and strengths , skill is not enough . Ongoing education on the latest trends in the industry along with periodical self- reassessments of positive and negative behaviors will help to keep a leader , not only sharp and strong , but aware of even the most seemingly minor activities that can undermine success . Possessing poor and weak body language (such as weak handshakes , causing others to believe that...
