Taking Care of Your Employees

A big part of any Human Resources in any organization it to gain associates acceptance - or at least

an understanding of the vision of the organization . Articulating the vision to all associates is easily

accomplished by implementation of a few programs company wide

A detailed orientation process to include introduction to many of the key players in the company -

include at least a VP level or above in this group . Follow this up with a tour of the entire facility . Go

beyond just a walk through tour - have the new

associates sit in with someone from each department

for 15 - 30 minutes . Not long enough to learn the detailed task of each department - just long enough

to gain familiarity of what that department does . A five minute intro and visit to the CEO or Division

leadership office will go along way in building that value added feeling to all new associates . To often

an orientation process is limited to four hours of filling out work and learning about benefits

Tack on an extra hour or two for detailed tours and introductions

Newsletters are another tool that can be used to articulate a corporate vision and build a sense of

belonging with many associates . Have a different associate from each department submit monthly or

weekly articles for the newsletter

Build interdepartmental work groups . These can be work oriented groups or even community action

groups - perhaps developing a plan to assist low income children with gifts for the holidays
