The United States of America is one of the major democracies in the world that still holds on to this law which many people feel is long overdue for abolishment . The punishment was first adopted when America was under colonization by Britain . When America got her independence they adopted all the laws that governed them prior to independence and that is how capital punishment got to be part of the American laws .
