The Gold rush was one where everyone thought they would move there , buy land and pan for gold in hopes of obtaining the spoken American Dream of owning land and becoming rich . During these times of the mid 1800 's thousands flocked to this South Western part of the United States . The cost of gold drove the markets sky high to the

point that the supplies needed to live and pan started outweighing the gold actually found There were the lucky ones that struck up on a good gold mine and made their way but there were others who seriously regretted their decision to come to this wild place and try and start a new life
California all but failed after the eleven year not so gold , gold rush Many people then wandered off to other states but those that remained behind lived in the ghost towns and slowly decided to continue making a life in California . By the end of this rush there were well over 300 ,000 people . Those who were able to make it in California bought up even more land and built stores and waited on the completion of the railroad so that transportation of good as well as travelers could benefit .
