ABSTRACT

This research aims to establish the effects of performance based reward systems on the retention of employees in the workplace . The findings of this research will contribute to the available literature on the subject and provide a basis for human relations managers to find solutions to high turnover in their workplaces . Current literature on the subject does not address the effects of reward based systems on worker retention and this study hopes to fill the void

. By conducting personal interviews , researching material from the libraries and archives as well as sending out questionnaires , the researcher will investigate the factors that make a worker stay in employment in one place for a long time . Based on the analysis of this information , the researcher intends to come up with a general theory about worker retention and the factors affecting it . The researcher posits that performance based reward systems influence a worker to stay or leave employment but they are not the only factors . Other issues play an important role when an employee decides to quit their job
