COLD WAR
Name Course University Tutor Date Cold War The cold war period started after the Second World War in 1945 . It was a period of extended tension , conflict and stiff competition between the two nations that emerged , as superpowers in the 2nd world war and these were the Soviet Union and the United States of America . It started immediately the war was over and continued up to the 1991 . The cold war involved carrying out of political affairs without any engagement in direct military confrontation . The former was meant to uplift the status of the Western Europe from the economic recession after the Second World War . This program at first was called the European recovery program . It was a US sponsored program geared to help the seventeen Western Europe nations as well as those countries in the southern Europe so as to create a good environment for democracy to take off but its counterpart the USSR came up with its own plan for challenging the marshal plan . This plan basically coordinated all the economic plan of the Eastern Europe members . Everybody thought that after the Second World War both super powers would continue working hand in hand though this is not what happened .
