The Chronicles of Narnia , several of the Harry Potter ' movies and The Last Samurai . Though these movies sometimes also fall into the previous category , they are generally special effects laden movies with huge advertising budgets to promote them . For 2007 , it appears the movie most likely to fall into this category is Will Smith 's , I am Legend , a remake of The Omega Man ' but with a better script and much better special effects . Among the movies that are released during the holiday season , The Mist ' falls into the third category : also

ran or simply okay . The Mist ' is another special effects extravaganza , this time based on a novella by Stephen King . It is not bad enough to fall to the level of B Horror movie , but certainly doesn 't belong in the other categories either

Movie makes understand that family entertainment and entertainment in general are important when families are together and school is out of session . They make movies that are designed to appeal to the whole family and those that are intended to appeal to everyone else . Then they make some extra movies for the people who don 't want to deal with the crowds of the blockbusters or the children in the family-oriented movies . Options like The Mist ' fall into that third category of movies that are good enough to see in the theater , but not great . The Mist ' will also appeal to people who have already gone through their options with the other two types of movies . Once they are done with the family-oriented flicks , people can move on to the blockbusters , movies they see for themselves . Finally , they move on to the simply okay movies that are seen simply because they have nothing better to do
