CHILD ACTION PROJECT
Running Head : Child Action Project Coursework ___________________________________ Name CFS 320 : CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FALL , 2006 Course , Semester No _________________________ Date CHILD ACTION PROJECT I . Introduction Theories have been developed for years to explain the development of human beings and the manner in which both nature and nurture interact to influence the ways in which humans think , feel , and behave towards his self and to his society . These theories are Piaget 's cognitive developmental stages , Lawrence Kohlberg 's moral development , Freud and Erikson 's psychoanalytic

models and , Bandura 's social learning viewpoint . Not one of these theories can thoroughly provide an explanation of the complexity of the human experience . But all these theories are important because these will help us understand how we grow and develop from infancy to adulthood . To aid us in understanding these many theories , a child action plan is made to illustrate said complexities of human behavior and experiences . This examines the life of Christopher B . Ford , a nine-y ear old Filipino boy who just celebrated his 10th birthday December 10 of this year . The boy is now in the Middle School and stays with her mother and brother . His father is a military man who works out of the country . Christopher exhibits many of the traits and characteristics ascribed to middle childhood by several developmental theorists

Interviewer : What changes would you make in the way your child is being educated in
the private school that he is currently attending
Mrs . Ford : Christopher 's school now is a lot better than the previous ones . It 's his third school actually . It 's a little expensive but I 'm happy because I can see changes in his behavior and his performance in school . There are only few of them in class so teachers can really give them personalized instruction
Interviewer : How 's the new school 's academic training as compared to the previous ones
Mrs . Ford : The teachers are competent and highly trained . I know that because I 'm a teacher too . Their lessons are advanced . In fact , I hired a tutor for my son to help him with his lessons and homework . He 's irresponsible sometimes that 's why I need someone to check on him . I can 't do it regularly because I 'm working . My husband is in the military and rarely comes home . My other son is also busy with his studies
Interviewer : This new school , how do they discipline their students in class
Mrs . Ford : The school is very strict . When a child misbehaves , they send me a letter . They let me know . When he misbehaves again , they ask me to come and talk to his teacher and he hates it because he certainly will be grounded
Interviewer : What 's the reason for his transfer to a new school
Mrs . Ford : It 's actually my decision . I was so fed up with the way they treat my son . I accept that he misbehaves sometimes , but sending me letters...
