Culture Dynamics in the Age of Globalization Towards Cultural Hegemony or a Dispersed Cultural Cartography Indeed , globalization is a multidimensional concept which cannot be viewed in a single angle only . It has implications not only on political international relations and economic trade relations but also on the dynamics of culture at the global level . This is primarily the focus of the chapter - globalization and its implications to culture . In more specific terms , it provides a thorough discussion of the emergence of a hegemonic or counter-hegemonic culture in the era of globalization . Its

Archer , at al (2007 ) delineated a very systematic discussion of the interconnected concepts of globalization and culture . The takeoff point of the discussion is the introduction of the concept of globalization as a driving force towards the conformance of different local and regional agents of culture in the global level . This is referred to as in the chapter as the global imaginary of culture . To further understand this global imaginary of culture , the authors established first the interlocking connection of culture and nationhood or nationalism at the micro level and the international level , as derived from the Western modern imaginary culture resulting from the Peace of Westphalia of 1968 The argument is that , in the Western perspective , while nations represent the imagined cultural relations at the national level , the relationships among nation-states epitomize the imagined culture at the global level
