US Health Care System

In a survey done by the Center for Studying Health System Change , it was reported that many Americans failed to receive medical treatment when they needed it . About 20 percent of Americans said that they did not receive medical treatment when the need arose in 2007 . The figure is up by 14 percent from the figure four years ago . This 20 percent account for more than 9 .5 million people (Reuters

The startling data could only mean that the national health care status is not improving despite of

the many years that it has been criticized because of the rising price of medical costs

It was also discovered that those without health insurance are more likely to report going without care but those with insurance had a greater increase in unmet medical needs (Reuters . This could mean that even people who have health insurance are no longer getting proper medical attention . It may be because of certain restrictions in insurance policies since some government insurance policies do not cover certain health concerns . The medical care before that can be accessed through insurance may not be covered now because of rising health care costs

Many people who were surveyed attested that they were unable to get coverage from their health insurance for certain treatments or a doctor or hospital refused to accept their health insurance (Reuters . This suggests that health insurance is no longer very helpful as insurance companies no longer want to cover much of the medical treatment because of its high price

It is estimated that 47 million of the population of the United States do not have health insurance . This number has been constantly on the rise since 2000 while medical costs have increased by at least twice the inflation rate

Even as medical technology progresses , so does the cost of getting medical treatment . This has become an economic problem since to solving some health care problems such as lack of health care workers like nurses the United States is being forced to tap into other sources of manpower . The US has been hiring many nurses from Asian countries like the Philippines . Much of government spending is also diverted to improving the country 's health care system but it is not going up in any way that it may be viewed
