The manager of my multinational corporation has asked me to write a report on team building . It is his belief that my organization would increase in effectiveness through effective team building

Research indicates that teams are increasingly becoming essential parts of contemporary organizations , where teams are nowadays required in the quest to grow swiftly and yet remain flexible (Chowdhury et al , 2002 1 . It is generally understood that team building is an

effective way of increasing productivity as well as employee motivation . Based on Abraham Maslow 's theory of motivation , all individuals must have a sense of belongingness before they can reach their highest potential as some of the most productive team members of the organization as a whole Effective team building helps human resource managers to identify a team 's strengths and weaknesses , increase productivity in addition to efficiency , improve the interaction of team members , reduce stress levels in the workplace , and also to develop healthy inter-group relations ( Team Building Ideas

Team dynamics refer to the unseen forces at play in the functioning of a team . These forces may have a negative or positive impact on the working of the team with respect to organizational goals . In to ensure that the negative forces as part of the team dynamics would not have a negative impact on the functioning of the team , organizational managers are required to manage teams most effectively ( Guide to Managing ' 1996

What information will my audience expect me to know

My manager expects me to be acquainted not only with the essential definitions of the business terms to be discussed in this report , but also with current research on effective team building that incorporates knowledge of the real world apart from theories . In particular , he would like me to address the importance of team building in modern global organizations , followed by a of the characteristics of effective teams that would help my organization in managing team dynamics
