MIS can for instance be used in the Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO ) for the marketing activities . Integration and flexibility are important characteristics of MIS to the marketing activities of HMOs . Integration is important in providing multifaceted information on marketing while flexibility gives the marketer room to address the variety of targets This also includes management as a whole . Transaction Processing System (TPS ) processes transactions that take place within any business organization . This system performs routine functions and it also serves as a foundation for other systems . The transaction systems are important in that they handle errors that can occur in the system in a safe and constant manner , though some errors cannot be avoided . Decision Support Systems can be of great help to the management team by integrating various sources of information where there is cognitive deficiency . This system can as well be able to support choice among various alternatives and build on formal approaches . DSS can also be used to solve intractable problems by formal techniques through the application of artificial intelligence methods . DSS can hence be used to do the analysis of What if ' by using the data from MIS . The different between the analyses between MIS and DSS is that DSS is a `right now ' analysis while the MIS analysis is a long-term structured (Willie-ga , 2002
