These methods have actually evolved through the years , after much study and improvements were made . Some of these were actually used to analyze the brain structure , that were beneficial in the detection of illnesses that may be associated with the said organ . These include imaging of the brain , such as the use of X-rays , the Computerized tomography (CT , and

the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI . These methods were used to view an image of the brain , and the possible problems that may occur . X-rays have the least clear images of the brain , so this is normally used as a second or third opinion . The Computerized Tomography or CT scan provides a different kind of technique . Several angles of th brain are taken , which are then compiled together by the computer . If there are any problems , like cysts , and clots , these can be seen clearly . Among the three , the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI ) has the highest resolution for its images . Slight abnormalities in the structure of the brain may be clearly seen , providing faster cure for the patients (Brown , September 26 , 2001
For studying brain function , several techniques may also be used Examples of these include Electroencephalogram (EEG ) and the Electrical Simulation of the brain . Electroencephalogram is the method used wherein several electrodes are scattered all over the scalp . This helps in the measurement of electrical activity attributed for specific activities Stimulation , on the other hand , may be done during surgery . This is done by actually 'electrocuting ' the brain to see the results . The normal result is to usually see the brain copy what has occurred (Brown September 26 , 2001
Several other methods are also being used for the study of the brain However , effectivity is usually based on the gravity of damage done to the brain . Of course , brains functioning normally , without any structural problems , will have positive results .Works Cited
