Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass By Lewis Carroll The famous novels Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll are about the adventures of a young girl named Alice , who begins her long journey into Wonderland after following a white rabbit with a big golden pocket watch . The rabbit keeps looking to his watch and fretting that he 's late . Alice is made very curious by him , and follows him down a long , dark rabbit hole full of cupboards and shelves She keeps falling for

a long time and thinks she will fall right through the earth until she lands on a pile of sticks
From there , she continues down a long hallway and comes to a bottle that has a tag with the label `drink me ' on it . She sips from it and begins shrinking until she thinks she will finally shrink into xistence . At that point , she then takes a bite of cake that has a tag reading `eat me ' on it , and grows extremely tall . She begins to cry with her new problem and creates a flood of tears in the hallway . Once she shrinks down again she meets a group of animals and they begin a `Caucus race ' to dry themselves after the flood Alice created with her tears
When the hallway disappears , Alice finally encounters the white rabbit who mistakes her for his maid , Mary Anne . He asks her to find his gloves and fan , and she obeys , going into his house where she finds them and drinks once again from a bottle that makes her grow enormous . Several animals try to get her out of the house again , but it is only after she eats the cake that she grows small , and is able to run away from the white rabbit and others who thought she was a monster
She then meets the caterpillar , who asks her to recite her lessons . But she only wants to know how to return to her normal size . He tells her that if she takes a bite of the mushroom on one side , she will grow very tall , and if she eats the other side , she will grow very small . She takes a bite of one side and immediately , her neck and legs grow very long and a bird in the trees mistakes Alice for a serpent who is trying to eat her eggs . No matter what Alice tells her , she cannot convince the bird of her innocence and she quickly remembers to eat the second half of the mushroom to grow small again
After she escapes the bird , she finds a small house which belongs to the duchess . The duchess is nursing a small baby while the cook works on a meal that causes pepper to fly everywhere and everyone to sneeze . Alice notices a grinning cat called a Cheshire cat there . At one point the duchess s Alice 's beheading but then she merely goes to play a game of...
