Where are Celebrities When You Need Them

When this began , it was pointed out that Jeffrey Sachs is associated with many of the most influential , and wealth celebrities and politicians in the world . However , his fundraising to give handouts to the poor of the world has only raised a bit over 100 million (Hicks which is about one year 's wages for Sachs ' close ally Bono . Therefore the question comes up that if these influential and rich people so believe in these financial handouts for the poor , why aren 't there billions of dollars being contributed to the cause ? The answer seems quite simple- talk is one thing , and action is another . While it is admirable and convenient for the rich and famous to talk about making a difference , they have frankly failed to take the right actions to make it happen

Self Reliance-Missing in Action

One common thread that is clearly lacking in Sachs ' work is that of self reliance he does not differentiate between a hand up- education and opportunity to work for what one has , and hand out- pouring money on the fire of poverty . If Sachs addressed self reliance more , the work would be more credible
