Accreditation is a status that provides the public with notification on whether a hospital or any other institution meets standards of quality set by an accrediting agency . Hospital accreditation is the process whereby health care organization assess their level of performance based on set standards . Accreditation differs from state or federal licensure in the sense that , the purpose of accreditation to assess the performance and improvement of an institution . On the other hand , state licensure is a form of certificate issued to Medicare and medical providers . An accreditation is voluntary and is used for evaluation purposes mostly by private and not for profit companies . The compliance of a state of federal licensure is mandatory and is used for inspection purposes by the government entities

Managed care plans is a form of system that is involved in the control of financial and delivery of health care services to individuals who have enrolled in a particular type of healthcare plan , these are health benefit plans used to attract insured persons to use insurance providers owned by the insurer offering the health benefit plan type of managed care plans include Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO point-of service (POS ) plans and provider organizations (PPO A Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO ) is very restrictive because it does not allow members to select their health care providers of their choice . I would prefer the point of service plans (POS ) because they are open-ended , flexible and give their members freedom of choice

My employer offers the point of service plans which are also referred to as open ended HMO . In this type of health plan we are allowed to choose between the HMO and PPO every time we need health care services . As members we are given the option to choose a primary care physician although it is not a mandatory requirement . This plan is more flexible because members can choose to visit a health care provider who is outside their network , although the fees are higher (Kongstvedt 2003
