World over today , organizations are experiencing a lot of problems that are related to excess in inventory , deterioration in supplier quality late delivery charges , expediting costs and long cycle times . Etc . 7-8 of loss of credibility , loss of sales , extra inspection along with repairs due to above mentioned reasons

Firms are now employing Ace programmes in to counter these problems that enable them to have a

competitive edge over their employees . Some of the benefits of such programs are listed as below

Customers are looked upon as partners so tat they are satisfied a delighted to such an extent that they get back to the firm . As to day to have a competitive edge it is not al about making new customers but the true challenge is to retain existing customers

Lastly the programs aims to provide a working environment and place that is designed in a way that people are free to work , with no distractions and clutter that hinders in their work ( Evans ,1997

Rather then being called as an efficiency programme , Achieving competitive excellence can be looked as a core management tool kit . This phenomenon orbits around two major sectors , that aim towards preserving and maintaining that are made in daily operations and improvement workshops . In to sustain these improvements , two methods can be employed , first by establishing a set of matrices and secondly through key process indicators that are spread into a variety of 7 to 8 distinct categories . These metrics keep the manager of these operations motivated to keep a draft of the improvements that have been made and that need to be made in future by coming up with new ideas and solutions by using concepts and utilizing tools to achieve those goals (Chase , 2005

The second method to achieve competitive excellence is said to be the most important of the two that requires managers to empower employees so that at every level of the operation they are required to take the responsibility of implementing lean thinking and technique . The personal in charge or the initiators of this process are very critical for this method to work efficiently as without them this plan cannot work adequately . When developing matrices for a lean programme , it is important to extra care regarding the selection and the development of the personnel by providing them with necessary training as these are going to be the main pilots or the actual drivers of the plan (Chase ,2005
