Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Beauty is said to be relative . However , when one takes a closer look at society and humankind it is clear that there are certain standards put in place with regards to beauty . Many individuals , women in particular have had to compare their bodies with ideal body images portrayed by the media and even by the people around them . This portrayed body image is usually one that has idealized a curvaceous shape in women , a shape which involves slim stomachs and large breasts

This idealization

of a specific body image would have been harmful had society not placed a pressure among women to achieve the same type of body . Many women are now facing negative body images because of the fact that they don 't fit into the mold society has cast and named beauty . In an effort to attain the level of beauty set by society and the media many women have resorted to the methods of cosmetic plastic surgery . The dangers in breast augmentation , however , are also very real . Before the practice of breast implantation , for example , injection of silicone gel to augment breasts was performed . This caused numerous physical problems because the silicone would often migrate to other sites in the woman 's body (Brown , Silverman Berg , 1532 )This migration caused untold damage to affected cells

Even after the practice of silicone injection was discontinued , however the innovation of silicone breast implants still posed physical risks to women . Silicone implants were supposed to increase safety standards in breast augmentation . The silicone envelope and the scar capsule of the implants served to prevent migration and to contain the silicone only around the location of the breast (Brown et al , 1533 ) However , it is clear that silicone implants are not perfect . There have been many cases of rupturing of these implants which as a result have caused the uncontrolled spread of silicone in the breast parenchyma . Implant rupture has been the cause of concern not only for women having breast implants put in but...
